VIPS-TC Champions Student Wellbeing through Interactive 'Happiness Day' Drive with Rahat Trust

“As a counsellor, it was truly heartening to see how curious students were to understand mental health. They reflected deeply, asked thoughtful questions, and were visibly happier while learning through games and play. Moments like these reaffirm how powerful joyful, safe learning spaces can be.”
— Ms. Pankhuri Sharma, Counsellor & Convener of Aanandam: Centre of Happiness & Wellbeing, VIPS-TC
NEW DELHI- March 20, 2026 — In celebration of the International Day of Happiness, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies - Technical Campus (VIPS-TC), a premier educational institution in New Delhi, organized a mental health advocacy drive on campus. The initiative, titled "Happiness Day," was spearheaded by the institute’s wellness hub, Aanandam- The Centre of Happiness & Wellbeing, in collaboration with the Rahat Charitable & Medical Research Trust under their flagship Campaign for Mental Health (C4MH).
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, creating an inclusive and engaging environment focused on emotional well-being and proactive mental health awareness.
The centerpiece of the program was the installation of Life-Size Interactive Floor Games—including Snakes & Ladders, Ludo, Maze, and Stappoo. These classic formats were specifically reimagined to simplify complex mental health challenges through experiential and activity-based learning. Supported by engaging Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, these innovative activities encouraged organic reflection, dialogue, and active student participation.
The sessions were conducted by a specialized team from the Rahat Charitable & Medical Research Trust, ensuring a youth-centered and interactive format. The visiting team included:
Dr. Sonia Sain – Senior Programme Manager
Ms. Ameera Batra – Programme Manager
Ms. Sufia Mirza – Social Media Manager
Supported by Interns Ms. Aayat and Mr. Avi, and Volunteers Ms. Neha and Ms. Samridhi.
Reflecting on the engagement, Dr. Sonia Sain, Senior Programme Manager at RAHAT, noted:
"It was a meaningful and engaging experience to conduct this session. What stood out was the active participation and openness of the students, which helped create a safe space for initiating important conversations around mental health."*
The initiative was designed to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health while sensitizing students to early signs and support pathways. Ms. Pankhuri Sharma, Counsellor & Convener of Aanandam: Centre of Happiness & Wellbeing, VIPS-TC, shared: "As a counsellor, it was truly heartening to see how curious students were to understand mental health. They reflected deeply, asked thoughtful questions, and were visibly happier while learning through games and play. Moments like these reaffirm how powerful joyful, safe learning spaces can be."
By reinforcing a culture of empathy and peer support, the "Happiness Day" initiative has further strengthened the commitment of VIPS-TC to fostering a supportive and resilient campus community.
