Bangalore Technological Institute (BTI) Successfully Organizes Two-Day National Level Conclave on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)

The IKS Centre and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell, under the aegis of IQAC, Bangalore Technological Institute (BTI), Bengaluru, in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, successfully organized a Two-Day National Level Conclave on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) on 30th and 31st July 2026. The conclave, themed “From Legacy to Innovation – Tradition Meets Future through IKS”, brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts, professionals, and students from institutions across the southern part of India to explore the relevance of India’s traditional knowledge systems in addressing contemporary challenges.

The conclave was organized under the guidance of Dr. A. Prabhakara Reddy, President, BTI, and Dr. S. Vidyashankar, Vice Chancellor, VTU, Belagavi, with Dr. Prasad B. Rampure, Registrar, VTU, and Dr. H. S. Nanda, Principal, BTI, serving as Patrons. The event was convened by Dr. M. A. Dorairangaswamy, Senior Professor – AI&ML, Director – IQAC, BTI, and coordinated by Dr. Nagashree Narayan Bhat, Associate Professor – S&H, BTI.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Varun Murthy, Founder – Dr. Varun Exam Excellence, Founder – Rebuild India Medical Academy Pvt. Ltd. and the inaugural session emphasized the significance of integrating India’s rich knowledge heritage with modern education, research, and innovation. During the inaugural ceremony, the Conclave Souvenir was formally released by Dr. H. S. Nanda, Principal, BTI.

The conclave featured eight expert sessions delivered by eminent academicians and practitioners covering diverse domains of IKS. A special highlight of the conclave was the presentation of ongoing interdisciplinary IKS-based research projects by BTI students. The projects covered diverse themes such as AI-assisted philological analysis, explainable AI for agriculture, automated plant disease detection, Vedic arithmetic-based RISC systems, IoT-based intelligent grid protection, smart solar positioning systems, AI-based heritage recognition for Hampi, humanoid robotics, sign language communication robots, AI-powered robotic tutors, and Agribot for precision agriculture, reflecting the successful integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with emerging technologies.

A major attraction of the conclave was the Exhibition on Indian Knowledge Systems, where faculty members and students displayed traditional artefacts, indigenous technologies, cultural heritage materials, handicrafts, textiles, and models illustrating India’s scientific, artistic, and cultural legacy. The exhibition received an enthusiastic response from participants, encouraging meaningful discussions on preserving and applying indigenous knowledge in contemporary society.

The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars, industry professionals, and students representing several engineering colleges and institutions from different parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Goa. The interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and networking opportunities enabled participants to exchange ideas on integrating Indian Knowledge Systems into engineering education, research, sustainability, innovation, healthcare, architecture, agriculture, and technology.

The conclave concluded with a valedictory session highlighting the need for continued interdisciplinary research and collaborative initiatives to promote Indian Knowledge Systems as a catalyst for sustainable development, innovation, and nation-building.

With the overwhelming response received, the organizers reaffirmed their commitment to conducting more such academic initiatives that bridge India’s timeless wisdom with the needs of the modern world, truly embodying the conclave’s vision:
