India will host the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 12–13 September 2026. Leaders from BRICS member and partner countries, along with outreach invitees, will discuss cooperation on shared priorities and exchange views on important global and regional developments.

The summit will be held under India’s BRICS 2026 theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” It follows more than 350 meetings and high-level engagements organised across over 25 Indian cities during India’s chairship.

Who are BRICS member countries?

The BRICS is a group formed by eleven countries: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates.

India’s fourth BRICS chairship

India assumed the BRICS chairship on 1 January 2026. This is the fourth time the country has held the role, following earlier chairships in 2012, 2016 and 2021.

The year also marks 20 years since the first meeting of the original BRIC foreign ministers in 2006. Over the intervening period, the forum has expanded beyond its original composition and added a partner-country category. The 2026 summit announcement accordingly refers to leaders from member countries, partner countries and invited outreach participants.
